Square Enix Halts Housing Demolitions in Final Fantasy XIV Amid Hurricane Helene Crisis

In light of the recent natural disaster, significant adjustments have been made regarding property management in the game. In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in September, Square Enix has announced a temporary halt to the automatic demolition of residential options available in Final Fantasy XIV>

The company's official statement expressed empathy towards those impacted by the hurricane. Acknowledging the damages incurred across several regions, the development team decided to pause the demolition process, which typically ensues when a player has not visited their estate for a period of 45 days. This system is in place to allow other players the opportunity to claim valuable property within the game’s world.

Starting October 2, the suspension of housing demolition was made effective across various Data Centers, including Primal, Dynamis, Crystal, and Aether. Once the demolition process resumes, it will do so from the point at which the pause was initiated. Players whose properties were on the verge of demolition have the option to cancel this by visiting their estates or engaging in construction on their land.

Square Enix also committed to keeping a watchful eye on the evolving situation in the upcoming days, promising to communicate any developments regarding the resumption of the demolition process. The company expressed hope for a rapid recovery for those affected, wishing that players will soon be able to return to the game.
